Bruceville, Indiana - Home of the Big Peach

As a previous Bruceville resident, I can tell you that I took The Big Peach for granted. I believe I only went there one time during peach harvest; however, I will NEVER forget how big, juicy, and DELICIOUS those peaches were!

Anyone who lives near a "famous" landmark can tell you that they seem to overlook it, and I rue the fact that I didn't go more often, to purchase perhaps the world's finest peaches.

Go get them while you can! Get enough to put into freezer bags, so you may enjoy summer all winter! [Gail Phillips, 09/18/2009]

My grandparents have owned the Big Peach for the last 33 years. It's been in our family for the last 44 and been around for almost 52. The monument and the peach have been there the whole time.

I was there last month and the Big Peach is really showing some age; so is the monument next too it. I never noticed the dent in the monument. but next time I'm down there I'll see if I can find out what happened to it.

They do have a big selection of items and some of the best apple butter that $6 bucks can buy. [Mick, 11/01/2008]

We happened upon the Big Peach while driving on US41, and it really beckons you to come into the produce market that is just behind it. It's still in great condition, as is the delicious produce. [John Holmes, 11/22/2006]

The Big Peach is a marvel of architectural ingenuity. In the summer, there is a produce stand on the premises that sells, of course, peaches. They also vend other items. When I was there I admired a selection of Lamb Chop memorabilia. The peach is easily accessible and you can walk right up to it. There is a smaller statue next to it that resembles the Washington Monument. Someone must take pride in the peach; she always seem to gleam with a nice paint job. [Faye Travis, 02/02/2005]
