Gillette, New Jersey - Grave of Leo the MGM Lion

I am the present owner of 197 Morristown Road, the location of Leo the Lion's grave. My corporation purchased the property in 1996. Prior to the purchase, the previous owners removed the grave marker.

Also of interest were the Tarzan props that were in the barn. One of the most valuable pieces was the original carriage from "Gone With The Wind".

I had contracted a company to carve a lion out of the tall pine to preserve the site. My corp. has fallen into hard times. My dreams to restore the place are alive. [Larry Pearce, President, Pearce Paving LLC, 01/27/2001]

Just thought you might like to know that the new owners of the Phifer farm removed the granite block marking Leo the Lion's grave. Too many tourist's I guess.I grew up in Gillette, NJ, and no, we did not like Pfifer's Animal Farm. The animals were kept in small dirty cages. It was cruelty to animals for sure.
