Long Beach, Washington - Jake the Alligator Man Jake is a gator body with a human shrunken head. He traveled in side shows and was purchased by the Marsh family, now displayed in Marsh's Free Museum, along with a host of other oddities, such as a bowl made of human skin.
Long Beach also boasts: the World's Longest Driving Beach, Crab Pot Christmas Tree, and World's Largest Frying Pan next to a 10 foot razor clam carved out of wood that periodically spits water.
Long Beach also has closed gas station named Cross Way with paintings of Jesus all over the tanks. We have al kinds of these kitschy things, and the best part is in general, the town has no idea it's cool or interesting to outsiders. [wendy murry, 10/13/2008]
